I think you really missed the mark here. You can’t go back to a certain point in time and not any farther to decide word origins. And really, who gave you the (white) privilege to decide what is and is not offensive. And there are much worse expressions such as “white trash,” which is a term used to describe the caucasians “on the wrong side of the tracks" (which refers to the downwind side of town where the soot of the train engine blew, which became the “poor side" of town) who lived next to the people of color, hence the differentiation with the word “white.” People are so tone-deaf that they don’t get that you can have an utterly racist term with the word “white” in it. Isn’t calling anybody “trash” offensive? There’s a reason that right-wingers talk about the “liberal elite,” because a lot of this group, much like rich Republicans, look down their noses at people who don’t have the benefit of education or “culture,” but really what choice do poor people have? If given the choice, I’m sure that most (if not all) of these people wish that they had better lives and hope that their children can prosper and improve their condition. Andrew Joseph Duffer blows so many holes in right-wing propaganda, so I hope after the new administration takes office, he can enlighten the holier-than-thou lefties (a group that used to include me) to want to raise everyone’s boat and make society and human existence better in the US and around the world. Because abominable things happen throughout the globe every day.

(she/her) Think you’re registered to vote? Check! https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/ They seem to be purging the voter rolls in a most uneven manner!
